Is it possible that in some circumstances VMWare Workstation does not change *.vmem file "last modified" timestamp although it has modified the file content?
The reason why I am asking this is that I have an inhouse developed backup solution which deletes from destination VM dir any files not found from source VM dir, then copies only modified files from source to destination and afterwards runs a diff between source and destination. Every now and then this diff failed and the reason was always a mismatch in a .vmem file.
I modified the backup so that it first deletes all the destination *.vmem files so that they are always copied from source and since that diff has always succeeded.
This complicates backup and copies unnecessary files. Now I need to change the backup solution and wanted to check this issue first.
