We are looking at building a bespoke RHEL5 server for a customer at our site and then shipping a copy of this virtual server to the customer which will be put onto an ESX set up.
The question I have is what would be the best set up for us to do this without having to pay a large amount of money if possible?
We do have a few older technologies from VMWare these being Workstation 5, Workstation 6.5 and VMWare Server but I am guessing something more recent would be easier/better to put onto the ESX server?
I have looked at vSphere which we can install onto a physical server to host a virtual install but would this need to be a paid version (is there more then one paid version?) or would the free version be ok for this?
Any help, guidance or pointing to the right documents would be greatly appreciated!
