Cannot start 'VMware Authorization Service'

I just installed VMWare Workstation version 9 on my Windows 7 64 bit computer. When I try to start a VM, I get the following error message:

Transport (VMDB) error -44: Message

The VMware Authorization Service is not running

I went to the service manager and tried to start the 'VMware Authorization Service', but got a different error message:

Windows could not start the VMware Authorization Service service on Local Computer

Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion

I've been Googling that error message, and I can't find a solution. Any ideas on how to fix this?
