I have created a custom OVA with RHEL/CentOS 7.5 which works fine during normal usage. The template uses XFS and no LVM, but when I try to apply guest customizations I get:
Customization of the guest operating system '
rhel7_64Guest' is not supported in this configuration. Microsoft Vista (TM) and Linux guests with Logical Volume Manager are supported only for recent ESX host and VMware Tools versions. Refer to vCenter documentation for supported configurations."
I am running on ESX 6.7 and I think the message is wrong. The weird thing is that the system actually is able to apply guest customizations if I start the template once till VMWare detects that open-vm-tools exist in this template (The image is prebuilt to include open-vm-tools -- and they work; I can see IP etc reported). Obviously I don't wont to start the golden image because that would generate more logs etc and I want the ova to stay clean (as well as clones from that…).
Do you have any ideas how I can convince an ESX server / VCenter that my system has guest customizations?

Extra Information:
- Installed tools version (visible after boot): Running, version:10336 (Guest Managed)
- ESX version: VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 8169922 (same happens on 6.5 too though)
