CentOS 7 can be selected as guest OS when creating new VM, but not when importing from OVF/OVA ?

Hi All,

I'm running several CentOS 7.4 VM's on ESXI and for those that I have deployed by using an OVA file, I get a warning saying

"The configured guest OS (Other Linux (64-bit)) for this virtual machine does not match the guest that is currently running (CentOS 7 (64-bit)). You should specify the correct guest OS to allow for guest-specific optimizations"

These get automatically set to guest OS type Other Linux (64-bit)   during deployment EVEN THOUGH it is specified as "centos7_64Guest" in the OVA.

However, for the VM's that I installed from scratch (not using OVF/OVA), I can choose the option "CentOS 7 64 bit" as the guest OS type. This guest OS option (CentOS 7 64 bit) is not available for VM's that were deployed using an OVF/OVA even in the edit settings popup for the VM's after it has been deployed.

What's the reason for this and is there a workaround?

Thanks.
